The construction of the cohesive gel implants allows them to have fewer problems than many other types of implants. They were created to eliminate the chances of rupturing that many other types of implants have the complication of doing. If a rupture does happen, the implant can hold its shape for quite a while before needing to be replaced. When a silicone implant ruptures the body will absorb the saline solution. This creates the implant to go flat and become very noticeable to the eye. Since the cohesive gel implants have not been approved by the FDA as of yet, they are available in many places other than the United States.
